As LIWF 2012 prepares to get underway, event director James Murray advises all attendees and exhibitors to "use it to the max".

Speaking to Harpers ahead of the show opening tomorrow morning, Murray said the event was building up, "all our plans are in place". He said that as pre-registrations were "looking good" the Brintex organising team was "feeling positive".

His message for exhibitors or attendees was "enjoy the fair" and "make the most of it".

This year's fair will be 7.5% - 10% smaller than last year, given several high profile exhibitors - including Pernod Ricard, PLB and New Zealand Winegrowers - pulled out. However, this year for the first time supermarket Tesco will be exhibiting.

"It is an event for the trade at large, for those that aren't exhibiting I'd just ask them to come with an open mind and to seriously consider their involvement last year," added Murray.

The event has attracted around 1,200 exhibitors and will showcase 20,000 wines and spirits from 36 different countries. Approximately 15,000 visitors are expected to attend.
