Young bartender competition calls for entries

Published:  09 May, 2012

Up-and-coming bartenders can show off their skills in the upcoming UKBG Young Bartender of the Year competition.

Entrants will be expected to make a cocktail featuring the competition's sponsor, Bénédictine, as well as shake up the classics and demonstrate their knowledge.

The competition will be held at Shaker BarSchool in London on Monday May 14, and judges will include Ludovic Miazga, global brand ambassador for Bénédictine, Amit Sood, head of training at Shaker and Daniel Cebresse, president of UKBG.

Paul Curry, brand manager for First Drinks-owned Bénédictine, said: "Non-cream liqueurs remain in growth in the on-trade and are a firm favourite with bartenders. Sponsoring this competition will help us introduce the next generation of mixologists to the brand and encourage experimentation."

The winner of the UKBG Young Bartender of the Year competition will go on to represent the UKBG at the Elite Bartenders Course in Italy next year. One runner up will win a molecular cocktail course at Shaker BarSchool.
