The London International Wine Fair LIWF, has announced a line up of new events that will take place across its calendar in May.
The IWC Discovery Tasting - The Discovery Tasting provides visitors with the opportunity to taste, from over 1,000 individual wines from across the world, all of which are entered into the IWC, that are also all seeking importers.
Independent Retailers Lounge - Hosted in partnership with Off Licence News magazine, independent retailers can access a dedicated lounge where they can meet, network, consult with retail experts and take part in specialist sessions.
Sommelier of the Year - Organised by The Academy of Food and Wine Service, the finals of the UK Sommelier of the Year competition will run at the show on May 23. There will also be a dedicated on-trade theatre complete with iconic tastings, speaker sessions and advice from Nicolas Joly.
Small Independents Pavilion - For those looking for niche or boutique wines, it can be difficult to find them among the general stands at the fair. Aimed at visiting sommeliers and independent retailers, it is designed to help solve this and give visitors a focused area dedicated to boutique wines from smaller independent producers.
Bordeaux to Show 2008 Vintage- The opening day of LIWF sees some of the most prestigious Bordeaux châteaux fly in for a dedicated tasting hosted by the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux. Focusing on wines from 2008, the tasting will give buyers the chance to re-visit the vintage and seek out some gems.
Some 20,000 wines and spirits will also be on display across more than 1,000 exhibition stands including pavilions from: Brazil, Lebanon, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Romania, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, Moldova, Georgia, and major producing nations including Argentina, Australia, California, Chile, France, Italy, Portugal, South Africa and Spain.
