Pernod sales down in UK

Poor performances from Jacob's Creek and Martell have contributed to a 4% decline in UK sales for Pernod Ricard in the three months to October.

The company said the quarter had been "excellent" from a global perspective, with organic sales growth up 11% to just under €2 billion. This was led by 20% growth in emerging markets but the company said its performance in western Europe was "stable" - an improvement on the previous year when sales declined 2%.

Internationally the company's 14 strategic spirits and Champagne brands recorded 6% volume growth and organic sales growth of 14%.

Eight brands saw double-digit organic sales growth: The Glenlivet (+42%), Jameson (+29%), Royal Salute (+29%), Martell (+25%), Chivas Regal (+18%), Malibu (+17%), Perrier-Jouët (+17%) and Mumm (+12%).
