The Wine & Spirit Trade Association has appointed Carlo Gibbs as its new public affairs executive.
Gibbs will join the trade organisation next week and will focus on a range of retail issues, including licensing and initiatives to combat under-age purchase and the possession of alcohol.
He will also provide support to the All Party Parliamentary Wine & Spirit Group.
Gibbs joins from Apex Communications where he was a public affairs consultant.
He was previously a parliamentary researcher.
Gibbs takes over from Sarah Davis who is leaving to join a public affairs consultancy.
Chief executive Jeremy Beadles said: "He brings with him some excellent sector experience from his previous role and I am confident he will be a real asset to the WSTA team.
"I'd like to thank Sarah Davis for her outstanding work over the past few years at the WSTA. She has worked tirelessly on issues affecting member companies, including, most recently, proposals to reform the licensing regime."
