Harvest report: Provence volumes up 5%

Harvest report from the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins de Provence (CIVP)

The expected 2010 harvest from the three appellations which make up the heart of the CIVP (95% of the region's AOP) ? the Côte de Provence, Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence and Coteaux Varois en Provence ? is showing a 5% increase on 2009 volume at 1,277,000 hl.

According to the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins de Provence (CIVP), rosé wine accounts for the majority of this new vintage, representing 87% of the total; red wine makes up 9% with 4% for white.

Sales of the Provence Rosé 2010 vintage are expected to rise by around 2% by year end in comparison with 2009, when there was marginally less stock available at the end of last year.

The results show a slight increase of 3.8% in the volume of wine available for sale. For rosé, this is calculated as a maximum of 1,212,000 hl. This evolution matches the rise in sales of Provence rosé over the last three years.


The bulk price at the beginning of the new vintage campaign shows a slight increase, ranging from 110 to 160 Euros/hl according to the appellation.
