National Wine Month has gone live with the launch of a website designed to show the trade how they can benefit from the industry initiative.
A key element of the 'Make Time for Wine' communication programme, is to introduce the trade to the objectives of National Wine Month, in May.
The site will detail activities, acknowledge supporters and provide free promotional tools through a simple download system.
Ian Harris, chief executive of WSET and co-ordinator, said: "The aim of National Wine Month is to bring the trade together under one promotional umbrella to create a peak of awareness for wine. The success of the initiative is dependent on the support of the trade, so the website is there to give companies the information and tools to support National Wine Month to the benefit of their own businesses."
"We are also dependent on the industry for funding and we are very pleased to have had a firm commitment from over 20 companies to date both with financial and practical support. These companies are listed on the trade website and we are looking forward to publishing details of more companies as they come on board."
A consumer website to engage wine-drinkers with the initiative will go live in April. The WSET, will be running a full programme of educational activities in May aimed at the consumer.
