Published:  23 July, 2008

Former Harpers on Restaurants editor Paul Henry is one of two new senior executives appointed to replace Hazel Murphy when she steps down as European CEO of the Australian Wine Export Council (AWEC) at the end of February 2003. Henry will be the AWEC's regional manager UK/ Ireland, while Marco Tiggelman, a Dutchman, will be its regional manager, Continental Europe. Jonathan Scott, the AWEC's general manager, said that the two jobs would need a different emphasis'. In effect, Murphy's old job has been split in two. She told Harpers that the business has grown to the extent where it is beyond even my levels of energy. With the appointment of Paul Henry in the UK and Ireland, I'm confident that the markets will receive the focus, attention and enthusiasm they deserve.' Henry joins the AWEC from Enotria Winecellars, where he is currently associate director, while Tiggelman has been running his own wine importing and consultancy business in the Netherlands since 1997. Tiggelman will start work in December, while Henry will join next February, in time for the Australia Day tastings.
