French winemaker Alain Grignon has launched a new range of wines as a humorous tribute to co-ops and growers in the Languedoc.
The Prickly French range of wines is intended as a commentary on the grumpy reputation of the region's growers and as a way of highlighting the problems they face in the modern wine market.
Peter Crameri, UK manager at LGI-Alain Grignon Wines, said: "Much like the hedgehogs on our labels, French growers are seen as a disappearing breed but their expertise is invaluable.
"We may be poking fun a little bit with Prickly French, but our message is dead serious - growers are incredibly important to our business."
The Colombard/Chardonnay, Carignan/Merlot and Cinsault/Syrah (rosé) wines will all have an rrp of £5.99 in the UK off-trade.
