Australia's First Families of Wine, an association of 12 producers, is to run a series of tastings and master classes in the week leading up to the London International Wine Fair in May.

First Families' members will be showcasing wines from their diverse wineries to independent merchants, restaurateurs and invited media at events to be held across the UK.

They will feature examples of some of the best best varietal and regional wines coming out of Australia as well as the flagship wines from each producer.
The heads of each of the families will be flying over to take part in the tastings which start in the week starting May 10.
The first event on May 10 will include a tasting with The Wine Society at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London. The producers will then travel to events in Edinburgh, Manchester and Bristol.

The London trade tasting will take place on May from 10.00am to 4.00pm at the Imagination Gallery with a master class and panel discussion with the families between 11.00am - 12.30pm.
First Families chairman, Tahbilk chief executive Alister Purbrick said: "The AFFW will showcase the diversity, quality and character of our wines, wines that can and do compete against the world's best.

"Although the Australian wine industry has achieved great success over many years and continues to dominate the UK wine market as the number one wine importer, AFFW recognises the need to continually evolve and part of that evolution is to ensure that the reality of Australia's diverse regional and varietal offering is fully understood by wine consumers in this market"
