Lafite Rothschild has been named as the best wine of the 2008 Bordeaux vintage, according to a survey of 230 professionals.
The wine beat Latour and Ausone to the title, based on votes recorded by buyers and sellers questioned by Liv-Ex, the fine wine exchange which monitors price trends.
Pontet Canet topped the "best value for money" category while Montrose was named as the vintage's most disappointing wine.
Overall, those questioned gave the 2008 vintage a score of 91 out of 100, with the consensus being that it was better than expected.
Respondents also predicted that release prices for a theoretical basket of 10 Bordeaux wines will be down 38.3% on last year's levels and 56.1% down on the 2006 figure.
