Sales of E&J Gallo wines surged upwards in 2008 despite tough economic conditions, the company has announced.
The winery revealed that it saw more than 5.5 million nine-litre cases sold in the UK last year.
The flagship brand, Gallo Family Vineyards, was at the spearhead of 2008s success. It retained a 5% share in the UK market.
The brand - which already has 92% weighted distribution - has new listings in Waitrose and BP forecourts for its Turning Leaf and in Thresher for its Sycamore Canyon brand.
Sales of E&J Gallo rosé wine continued to grow in 2008, with off-trade sales rising by 13.5%.
Gallo Family Vineyards White Grenache was the fastest growing of all wines in the top five - up by 5.3%. Sales of Gallo Family Vineyards White Zinfandel grew by 4.2%, maintaining its position as the number three best selling rosé wine in Britain. Combined, Gallo Family Vineyards rosé wines account for 18% of the rosé category in the UK.
In the last four weeks of 2008, the total Gallo Family Vineyards portfolio grew 13% in off-trade sales, posting the greatest growth during the Christmas period among the top five wine brands. Gallo Family Vineyards Turning Leaf showed a healthy 23.6% growth in Christmas trading period.
