The distribution of singer Sir Cliff Richard's Vida Nova and Onda Nova range of wines in the UK are being switched with immediate affect to Chalié Richards, the premium wine arm of drinks company Halewood International.

The wine is made at the Adega do Cantor (Winery of the Singer) at Guia in the Algarve, Portugal, and is a joint venture between three vineyard owners, Sir Cliff Richard, winemaker Max Birch and Nigel Birch.

Sir Cliff said: "It's wonderful to welcome a new distributor on board who is so enthusiastic and confident about our wine. Hopefully all those who buy Vida Nova and Onda Nova will have the same reaction!"

Bob Rishworth, managing director at Chalié Richards, said: "I have generally dismissed celebrity wines as being a marketing gimmick, but having tasted the Vida Nova and Onda Nova range I can honestly say that I was bowled over by the quality, it really is terrific wine.

"Sir Cliff is extremely passionate about his wines (his vineyard surrounds his Portuguese home), and would like his wines to be judged on merit and not because of his endorsement. Portuguese wines are currently experiencing an increase in popularity, so this is a great time to be adding such a prestigious brand to our portfolio," he said.

The range consists of Vida Nova and Onda Nova. Vida Nova has an rrp of £7.49 and is available as a red with Aragonês, Syrah, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet, as a rosé with Aragonês and a touch of Syrah, and as a Reserva Syrah Aragonês blend at £10.99.

Onda Nova is available as a rosé with Aragonês, and as a red with Syrah, and has an rrp of £7.99.

The range is targeted at independent and multiple on-trade and selected off-trade outlets.
