Irish whisky brand Bushmills has launched an on and off-trade promotion to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the original licence to distil whisky in the Bushmills area.

In the on-trade, it has launched a £4 million scratchcard promotion. The 'On the Money' promotion offers instant wins of £8, £16, £400 and £1608 with every purchase of Bushmills Irish Whisky.

In the off-trade, it is offering consumers a copy of 'Bushmills: 400 Years in the Making'. The commemorative book, worth £17.99, is being offered for free on a neck collar attached to every promotional bottle of Bushmills.

A national PR campaign and promotional activity in the on-trade will drive awareness of both offers.

So far Bushmills has undertaken advertising, rugby sponsorship, new anniversary packaging, a special edition Bushmills 1608 Irish Whiskey and a 'Storyteller' experiential marketing and sampling campaign to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the original licence to distil whisky in the area.

Bushmills also recently became the first whisky brand to be featured on currency, when the Bank of Ireland published commemorative notes featuring the Bushmills distillery on its £5, £10 and £20 notes.
