No two or three stars for UK and Ireland from Michelin

Published:  23 July, 2008

The Michelin guide has awarded no two stars or three stars to restaurants in the UK with the release of the latest red book.

The apparently static nature of dining in the country is reinforced by an absence of restaurants tipped as "Rising Stars" too, in the guide's recently created category.

Only Tom Aiken is tipped for two stars in the near future by inspectors, with Nathan Outlaw, in Fowey, Cornwall and Claude Bosi at Hibiscus also expected to regain his two stars, now down to one since the chef's move from Ludlow to London.

Will Smith and Anthony Demetre won a star for their Wild Honey restaurant, to add to that at their other restaurant, Arbutus.

Another new restaurant, Rhodes W1 in central London from renowned chef Gary Rhodes won a star.
