Gatwick Express claimed to be the first to serve the new vintage of Beaujolais Nouveau by offering it to customers from one minute past midnight today, November 15.
Beaujolais Nouveau is officially released on the third Thursday of November with hundreds of thousands of bottles going into the market around the world.
Gatwick Express customers will be able to buy the new vintage onboard and also from the platforms at Gatwick Airport station and Victoria station. It is carrying out a tasting throughout the day.
Gareth Jones, head of customer services at Gatwick Express said: "We believe we are the first ever train operating company in the UK to offer the new Beaujolais Nouveau to customers. We also believe we may be the first in the world.
By offering our UK and international clientele the opportunity to sample the new wine, they can experience an exciting worldwide event and we hope to add a little fun to their journey."
