Buddies of the Benevolent (BOB) is setting up a northern branch to organise events for those in the trade who live too far away to travel to events in London.
Paul Evans from Rumpus Communications is launching 'Northern BOB' this week and is currently looking to recruit committee members.
BOB was formed last year, with the aim of introducing the good works of The Benevolent to a wider, younger audience in the trade. Northern BOB hopes to involve the major retailers and the established wine suppliers based in the north, and many have already agreed to lend their support to such fundraising events.
The London branch has been an enormous success and currently boasts more than 600 members. Evans has attended a number of the London fundraising events, including the launch party in Regent's Park, cocktail bingo and the LIWSF party at Tate Modern, and will be liaising on a regular basis with BOB chairman Nick Dymoke Marr.
Evans commented: 'BOB has really helped raise the profile of The Benevolent and created a platform from which regional groups can be set up. The events are enormous fun and a great way to socialise with friends and colleagues in our industry.'
'We have a reputation up north for flat caps and whippets, pigeon fancying and the like, so I'm looking forward to getting a small committee together to plan our first social, whatever the theme of the night.'
Northern BOB is hoping to attract 200 members, so if you are interested in joining the Northern BOB committee or being notified of future Northern BOB events, please contact info@rumpus-comms.com
