Nestled in the leafy village of Lyddington in Rutland, is The Marquess of Exeter, a new Indian restaurant by award-winning chef Krishnapal Negi. Of course, guests of The Marquess can indulge in classic British pub fare like prawn cocktails, homemade chips and gammon steaks, but in doing so, they would be missing out on top-notch Indian cuisine as good as any to be found in this country. Negi first made his name with Tangawizi in Richmond upon Thames in 2004, where he won a Michelin award. After two decades in London, Negi has fulfilled his desire to run his proprietary kitchen, inspired by the Himalayas where he was born. Among the standout dishes are the Lamb Masala with a side of Aloo Jeera, which can be paired perfectly with one of several rich red wine options, namely the Aruma Malbec 2020, Argentina.
