The Wine Society has launched a new series of own-label wine - the Bin Series.
It said one of its founding objectives when it formed in 1874 was to introduce “wines hitherto unknown or but little known” and the Bin Series is a “celebration of this heritage and of our insatiable thirst for discovery, a series of limited-edition wines with a story to tell”.
Each ‘Bin’ will available when The Society’s buyers discover a wine they “deem worthy of the Bin Series badge”.
The first release, Bin #001, is made by Altolandon from the bobal grape in Spain’s DO Manchuela. It’s an “under-the-radar gem that bowled me over,” said head of buying Pierre Mansour, who discovered the wine.
Bin #002 is expected to be released in the summer.
