John Hawes, the founder of award-winning Spanish specialist Laymont & Shaw, has left the company he sold to Vinoceros in 2003.
Hawes contract as a consultant with the company has been ended with mutual consent. He commented: It is probably a mistake to stay on when you sell your company as you rarely agree with the new owner's way of doing things, although I wish them every good fortune for the future'.
Hawes added that although he had no need to work as i approach my older years' he was interested in putting something back into Spanish wine. I will be going to meet Mara Jos Sevilla at Wines from Spain to see if I can help
in anyway. I don't want to leave the trade completely.'
