Flint Wines appoints head of private client sales for Stannary St Wine Co

Flint Wines has appointed Tom Bird as head of private client sales for its retail arm, Stannary St Wine Co.

Taking on his new position with immediate effect, Bird brought a “wealth of knowledge” from extended stints in senior private client sales roles at Corney & Barrow and Wine Source, with his interest and expertise in the wines of Burgundy and more recently, New Wave California, integrating "exceptionally well" with the specialty focuses of Stannary St Wine Co, said the wine merchant.

“Tom’s track record with private client relationships is an excellent match for Stannary St Wine Co and the direction we’re taking as a company,” said director Sam Clarke.

In his new role, Bird would head up plans to grow the team further and lead the merchant’s “ever expanding” programme of events, he added.

The appointment coincides with 30-40% annual growth in sales for the third year running (internal data) and a subsequent expansion of the Stannary St Wine Co team, with a scaled-up programme of specialty wine events, including the recent Domaine Dujac winemaker dinner, a tasting devoted exclusively to mature vintages and a regular Dinner Club.

Since its inception in 2013, Stannary St Wine Co has developed a revamped Italian portfolio and has continued to grow Italy, Burgundy, and the United States, working with more than 120 domaines and wineries across the world.
