A new online retail platform offering customized wine, beer and spirits selection boxes has been launched.
The Grape Code, live now, uses a simple customisation process based on five criteria which customers fill in as they go, including the number of bottles they would like to purchase, price range, style, occasion and food matching preference.
Before dispatch, customers are given a preview of the selection generated for them to allow them the option to replace bottles before purchase.
The service, which is available to private customers and companies UK across the UK and is currently supplied by Berkmann Wine Cellars and Amathus Drinks, had been launched in a bid to simplify customers access to wine by removing the “need-to-know-about-wine” barrier, said founder and wine specialist Chloe Delanne.
“What we’re trying to achieve is to curate the boxes ourselves, customising the selection to customers’ requests – I suppose we operate like a sort of personal shopper for wine and drinks,” she said.
The primary goal was to make wine more easily accessible to more wine drinkers, and keep it fun - it should never be too serious or restricted to people who know about it, she added.
The Grape Code also offers additional services such as gifts, tastings and wine subscriptions, alongside corporate gifts and entertainment packages for Christmas and summer parties.
The selection would be seasonal and would change every two months to help customers stay on top of the latest drinks trends, said Delanne.
“I have selected the current wine list myself, but the objective is to engage with wine and food specialists as well as influencers and invite them to create their own collections for the platform - I like the idea of variety and working with a diversity of people is essential,” she said.
