Berry Bros & Rudd has appointed Italian wine specialist Davy Zyw as buyer for the category.
Joining the team today (Tuesday 3rd October), Zyw will be looking after the category with the support of buying assistant Chloe Dale-Harris.
He joins the company following a four years stint as global wine & spirits buyer at Direct Wines (Laithwaites), where he was responsible for buying wines from a variety of areas including Italy, Champagne, South Africa, South America and England, before which he was assistant product development manager at Tesco.
Zwy brought “experience and a fresh pair of eyes” to the family-owned wine & spirits merchant, said buying director, Abi Hirshfeld.
“Davy is passionate about Italy and has a deep knowledge of Italian wines. We look forward to his contribution in bringing our Italian range to an authoritative and market-leading level.”
During his career in the wine industry, Zyw has completed a Wine Business Degree at Plumpton College and has also worked in the on trade as a Sommelier at Le Gavroche and Commis Sommelier at D&D’s The Bluebird.
He recently published his first book I Love Champagne.
