Graham's expands Vintage Port Bond to be available to purchase as an individual bottle

Published:  10 May, 2016

Symington Family Estates famed port brand Graham's, will now offer single bottles of vintage port for sale during the year that it is harvested following the success of the Vintage Port Bond case offering last year.

The concept was result of the Vintage Port Bond that Graham's offered for the 2015 harvest which allowed consumers to purchase a case of vintage port while it was being harvested and will be shipped next year. The single bottle gift or purchase will be available for RRP £80 and once the wine is ready it will be bottled and shipped 18 months later.

"Following the initial success of this project, we wanted to ensure we were making this gift as accessible as possible to our consumers, and so we are delighted to now introduce a single bottle Vintage Port Bond alongside the 6 bottle case. The new Vintage Port Bond provides a special and memorable gift at very reasonable value," said Paul Symington, chairman of Symington Family Estates.

Vintage ports are popular gifts often commemorating a significant personal event, such as a wedding or the birth of a child, for that year.

"For generations vintage port has been 'laid-down' at the birth of a child or as a way of marking a special occasion and it is a unique gift. The Vintage Port Bond has provided an innovative and practical solution to a problem we've identified and we're pleased it has been so well received," said Symington.

The challenge in the past for those who often wanted to give vintage port as a gift was there was no simple way to allow for consumers to purchase a bottle for the year they wanted as the wine must be 'declared' and then made available two years later.

The Vintage Port Bond can be purchased from retailers including Vintage Wine & Port, Berry Bros. & Rudd, Selfridges, Hedonism, Tanners, Jeroboams, Fortnum & Mason, Vagabond, Seckford Wines and Tanners.
