The Great Sherry Tasting 2016, which is to be held on September 12, 2016, is expecting to host 40 producers and over 200 wines will be poured this year.

The annual tasting is being moved to the OXO2 in London and is expecting to have a new programme as well. It is the largest Sherry tasting in the world outside of Jerez.

Three masterclasses will be held throughout the day which will be hosted by Beltrán Domecq and Fiona Beckett. The morning tasting offers attendees to experience the full sherry spectrum from Manzanilla to PX and is to be delivered by Beltrán Domecq, the president of the Consejo Regulador de D.O. Jerez/Sherry.

The early afternoon session will be hosted by food and wine columnist Fiona Beckett and will offer food and wine pairings.  The late afternoon tasting will be an advanced masterclass that will go more in-depth about the different terroir behind specific labels and it too will be led by Domecq.

Sherry in the on-trade has been doing well with the tapas boom that has swept the UK over the the past 18 months. However in the off-trade the wine has stuggled. In 2015, Sherry lost 2% of the total market share in the UK according to  D.O. Jerez export figures.

There are activities that are planned in the autumn to help further support Sherry in the off-trade. Outside of the The Great Sherry Tasting, Sherry Wines UK will also be participating in the The Wine Show- Chelsea in October as well participating in the Three Wine Men autumn tasting and a number of The Wine Gang events across the UK.
