Majestic wins exclusive rights to Graham Norton's Sauvignon Blanc

Published:  20 October, 2015

BBC chat show host Graham Norton is to launch his own wine in the UK through an exclusive distribution agreement with Majestic Wine.

Graham Norton's Own Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was produced in partnership with New Zealand's Invivo winery.

Norton tasted a range of samples with the Invivo team. His final preferred blend consisted of equal portions from the Marlborough sub-regions Wairau River and Awatere Valley.

Tim Lightbourne, co-founder of Invivo, said: "The classic tropical flavours of the stony Wairau soils have blended exceptionally well with the punchy, vibrant and herbaceous characters of the more rugged Awatere Valley - something not always easily done."

Norton's wine won a Silver medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London last month.

Invivo has supplied Norton's chat show with its Invivo Awatere Sauvignon Blanc since 2011. Norton is now also a shareholder in the company.

Matt Pym, Majestic's buyer for New Zealand, said: "We're really excited to be stocking Graham's Sauvignon Blanc, especially as it's the first time that the wine has been available in the UK and it is exclusive to Majestic."

It is available in-store and on-line from Majestic Wine at a multi-buy price of £8.99.

All of Norton's royalties from the sale of the wine will be donated to the Dogs Trust charity.

Invivo has produced a promotional film about Norton's involvement with the company, which is available online here.
