Grouse brings out new expression and updates main brand packaging

Famous Grouse is expanding its blended whisky range with the launch of a Mellow Gold expression.

The whisky had been developed by master blender Gordon Motion to deliver a "subtly sweeter, mellow flavour".

Motion added: "As with all Famous Grouse expressions, we've used sherry and bourbon-seasoned casks - but for Mellow Gold we've used a touch more sherry casks than usual.

"The effect is a smooth, well rounded whisky with added complexity of vanilla and subtly-sweet spice to create a gentle, velvety dram."

Distributor Maxxium UK said the launch was part of "ambitious redevelopment plan" which includes a new pack for the parent brand. Changes to Black Grouse will be made later in the year.

Marketing controller Johna Penman said: "The new look for The Famous Grouse has been developed in response to consumer demand for higher quality packaging and will further differentiate the brand from our competitors."

The new whisky has an rrp of £22.
