The service will have a range of more than 10,000 products available for one-hour delivery that the company has called 'daily essentials'. Nearly 80 beers, wine and spirits can be purchased for the service. To see all products a phone application must be downloaded. On the Prime Now app there is a selection of drinks products that are available for delivery within an hour called Happy Hour.

Additionally, there are several same-day deliveries services that are available free of charge.

There is a restriction for deliveries between 8am to midnight and is only currently available for specific postal codes in parts of Zone 1 in London. However according to a technology website wired.co.uk Christopher North the managing director for Amazon UK indicated the company plans to expand to cover all of London by the end of the year.

North said: "This is just the beginning. London is our first Prime Now city in the UK and we are already working on making Prime Now available in more postcodes in London and beyond."

The service was first rolled out in the US last year in New York with a range of 25,000 products.
