Casillero de Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon overtakes Wolf Blass in off-trade

Published:  01 April, 2015

Casillero del Diablo Reserva had grabbed the top spot for cabernet sauvignon in the UK market.

The Chilean wine, which is owned by Concha y Toro UK, overtook Australian wine Wolf Blass after seeing a 60% growth in value and volume. The Casillero del Diablo Reserva sold 390k 9L cases in the 52 w/e 28th Feb 2015 compared to 244k 9L cases the previous year. Value growth rose to £29.4m from £18.3m a year earlier (IRI data, 52 weeks to 28/2/15).

Chile's overall performance in Cabernet Sauvignon saw 14.6% growth, versus France declined 0.6% over the same period, the company said.

It marks a hat trick for CyT which recently the company produce the UK's number one Malbec with its Trivento brand, and Pinot Noir, with its Cono Sur Bicicleta.

Concha y Toro UK Marketing Director Clare Griffiths said CyT would continue to build the brand in the UK market with our customers and consumers by having award winning marketing campaigns and consistent quality wines.
