Published:  18 February, 2015

Diageo's John Walker & Sons King George V whisky has released an art deco inspired limited edition pack in time for Chinese New Year.

The travel retail exclusive marks the 80th anniversary of John Walker & Sons receiving their Royal Warrant and celebrates the 1930s arts and craft movement.

The pack has a burgundy finish, with a golden motif designed to emphasise the super-premium whisky's regal connections. It will be available for six months only priced US$494 (GBP £320) from travel retail outlets.

The blend uses whiskies only from distilleries in existence at the time of King George V, including casks of Port Ellen Single Malt from the Isle of Islay.

Gillian Naylor, head of Johnnie Walker marketing for Diageo's global travel and Middle East markets, said: "The limited edition pack expresses the unique heritage of this remarkable blend and is the perfect gift, not only for Asian travellers during Chinese New Year, but for all discerning whisky consumers."

Jim Beveridge, Johnnie Walker's master blender, said: "John Walker & Sons King George V is a highly distinctive, commemorative blend of rare and prestigious whiskies. It has an immense structure that has been hand-crafted to combine big flavours and a profound, mellow smokiness with elegance and depth."
