Spanish wine company Codorniu Raventos is still on the look-out for a UK managing director, after senior Diageo wine executive John Hearn failed to take up the post.
Codorniu Raventos UK, which produces the Spanish cava of the same name as well as a range of still wines, has been without a UK managing director since the departure of erstwhile boss Nick Mantella in May.
Mantella had been at the firm for 12 years, and has now taken up a position with another Spanish firm, United Wineries.
Codorniu announced that John Hearn, global commercial director for Diageo Wines arm Percy Fox, was set to take up the role at the beginning of October.
David Losantos, European commercial director for Codorníu Raventós, said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, John Hearn was unable to take up the role of managing director at Codorníu Raventós UK. We are currently recruiting for the position. In the meantime, we are 100% committed to our UK business, as can be seen by the recent launch of our advertising campaign for the Codorníu brand."
Earlier this week the brand announced a new advertising campaign 'We are not Champagne: We are Codorniu', which emphasises its suitability for all occasions and differences to the more upmarket sparkler Champagne. It says its campaign is focused on its "lifestyle credentials and links with gastronomy and fashion", which would "reinforce its rich heritage as a Cava pioneer". The ad introduces two new brand ambassadors, Michelin starred chef Jordi Cruz and Spanish fashion designer Miriam Ponsa, who will both represent Codorníu throughout 2015. The 30-second ad will air at UK cinemas in December and the brand estimates it will reach over 3.5 million consumers.
