Ex Scott's team opens Verden restaurant and wine bar in east London

The former team behind renowned Mayfair restaurant Scott's have joined forces with a senior Ogilvy PR to open Verden, a new wine bar and restaurant in east London.

The former team behind renowned Mayfair restaurant Scott's have joined forces with a senior Ogilvy PR to open Verden, a new wine bar and restaurant in east London.

Ed Wynand, ex-head maitre d' at Scott's is joined by Tom Fraser, its former head chef and Tom Bell, former Ogilvy PR associate director, in the new venture.

The restaurant will sever a regularly changing lunch and dinner menu along side an extensive cheese, wine and charcuterie selection, which will be served all day. Several items can be purchased for take away that will be housed in cold-room vaults in the basement that customers can browse through to make their selections.

Head chef Tom Fraser dishes will reflect his strong belief in nose-to-tail cooking and source ingredients that are sustainable.

The restaurant will offer light lunch selections which will be priced at £10 for two course or £12 for three and will be served starting midday Tuesday to Friday until 3.30 pm.

Dinner will be served from 6pm daily with starters including duck rillettes for £5 and mains of red mullet, saffron potatoes and mussels for £14.50 or heather-fed lamb, kale and girolles at £15. Every Tuesday will be steak night with a choice of cuts like the bavette, rump or rib-eye.

Brunch will be served on the weekends from 11 am until 5pm with breakfast favourites like bacon, egg and grilled tomato (£7.50) or chorizo, poached egg and potatoes (£8) on offer. Lunch options of pulled pork bun, harissa mayo and a fried pickle (£7) or roasted porchetta with cavolo nero and duck fat potatoes (£10) will also be available.

The wine list will feature wines from around the world including emerging regions within France, California and Slovenia. It will also include more classic wines from famous regions like Burgundy or Piedmonte. Verden will have an extensive by the glass wine list thanks to the use of Coravin. Thirteen of Verden's top end wines will be available by the glass.
