Argentina's Viñalba brand has added two new wines to its portfolio - Parrilla by Viñalba and Reservado de la Familia.
Parrilla, the name given to Argentina's famous steak-heavy barbecues, looks to offer a more fruit-forward style of Malbec and aims to give consumers an easy introduction to the grape. It has already been listed by Majestic - the ninth Viñalba line to be stocked by the retailer - at rrp £11.99.
The Reservado de la Familia wine is made with fruit from higher up in the Uco Valley and is available in Morrisons at rrp £9.99.
As reported by Harpers.co.uk last week, Viñalba has increased sales by 98% on last year, and is on target to sell 750,000 bottles this year.
Buckingham Schenk's managing director Jon Pepper told Harpers.co.uk consumers seem to like the brand, which has an "interesting proposition". It comes in around £8.99, which is a "significant step-up" from most other branded wines. Also Argentina is performing very well, with Malbec becoming a really well-known grape variety, he said. "It ticks a lot of boxes," added Pepper.
The brand now has 13 listings across the major off-trade retailers including Asda, Sainsbury's, The Co-operative and Waitrose.
The wine brand Viñalba is a joint venture between Buckingham Schenk and Mendoza-based Bodegas Fabre, which is owned by Hervé and Diane Joyaux Fabre.
Buckingham Schenk, based in Slough, Berkshire, sells around 15 million bottles of wine per year. Its European parent firm Schenk sells around 250 million bottles of wine per year, as well as owning a range of wine estates across the continent.
