Codorníu announces death of David Edwards of Codorníu Raventós

Codorníu has announed that David Edwards, of Codorníu Raventós, has died having contracted a post-operative infection following a heart transplant.

In a statement Codorníu said: "Having graduated from university with a degree in History of Art, David's career in the drinks industry started in the early days of Direct Wines running the Eton and Windsor branch. His career progressed to spirits when he joined Whyte and Mackay followed by Allied Domecq.

"In 2005 David joined Codorníu Raventós as national account manager, during his career he managed Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and the Irish market.  He retired in 2012 due to a heart-related condition.

"David leaves a wife, Anne, and two sons, Benjamin and Dominic. He will be sadly missed by friends and colleagues from the wine and spirit trade and remembered for his tenacity, wit and colourful vocabulary.

"Any messages or for further information, please contact Codorniu Raventos. Donations to be made to the Freeman Hospital Newcastle where David was treated."
