Marks & Spencer has signed a deal with Local Wine School that will expand its programme of in-store consumer tastings.
Local Wine School will run BWS workshops to educate M&S staff in house, as well as hosting in-store tastings at locations across the UK.
Although the consumer courses will not be WSET accredited, Local Wine School's 12 regional schools are all WSET-approved programme providers and each regional school owner has been on the WSET wine educators course.
Local Wine School will also publicise its M&S sessions to relevant parts of its 25,000-strong consumer database.
"Our trainers aren't wine geeks. They love wine but are used to speaking in normal, simple terms that people understand. All our people love food as well, so abit part of our presentation is talking about the food that goes well with these wines - that's what M&S customers like," said Local Wine School managing director Chris Powell.
"Local Wine School is able to offer both a programme of in-store tastings, which is fun and interactive for our customers, as well as comprehensive and professional in-house training for head office," an M&S spokesman said.
Local Wine School is currently searching for candidates to run schools in Edinburgh and Bristol.
