Origin Wine has launched a 50cl bottle of a 4%-abv wine-based drink designed to be served over ice.
The roll-out of Keep Light and Be Fair rosé to the lighter styles bay of Tesco's wine aisles and Express stores began this month, where it will be sold for £2.99.
Origin will launch further varieties, which are based on its Fairhills range, including white and red, at the London International Wine Fair next month. It is also in discussions with Matthew Clark about the brand's potential in the multiple on-trade market.
"The suggested serve is over ice. That's the big message we're going to get across and will be pushing hard at LIWF," said Origin Wine UK sales director Jon Woodriffe.
Consumer feedback that the drink tasted like a fruit cider led the packaging
in 50cl crown cap rather than 75cl wine bottle, he added.
