Two new sites for London bar group Drake & Morgan

Published:  14 August, 2012

London bar and restaurant group Drake & Morgan is opening two new sites in 2013 which will bring its estate to seven.

Both will occupy new AXA real estate developments in the City with the Happenstance opening at No 1 St Paul's Churchyard and the Haberdashery at Sixty London, Holborn.

Founded in 2008, Drake & Morgan focuses on large-scale design-led sites with bar/kitchens offering cocktails, an expansive wine list and other quirky features.

These sites, designed by Fusion Design and Architecture, will take inspiration from on-trade outlets in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo.

Occupying 8,000 square feet of No 1 St Paul's Churchyard, The Happenstance will feature floor-to-ceiling windows with views of St Paul's Cathedral. The 238-cover venue will incorporate an open kitchen, deli, mixology table, florist, bar and private dining room.

At Sixty London, The Haberdashery (pictured) is just over 10,000 square feet, and will include a florist, cheese and wine room, deli, kitchen and bar. The 478-cover venue will be spread over three floors, including a mezzanine level.

Founder and managing director Jillian MacLean has a strong track record in the industry, having been operations director at Novus Leisure and before that at Punch Tavern's managed arm Spirit Group, as well as being a direcotr and general manager at Mitchells & Butler.

MacLean said: "It's fantastic that we can continue to provide the City with something that's a little bit different, fresh and innovative."
