Italy's best-loved sparkling wine now has its own official glass. Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene producers have long realised that other glasses do not allow Prosecco's organoleptic qualities to be fully expressed. Even traditional flutes are not appropriate. As Franco Adami, president of Prosecco's consortium, explained: The flute is too narrow and lets you perceive too much of the "bitter" side of the wine, while too big a glass overly enhances the sweetness.' The Prosecco producers commissioned Riedel, which responded with a unique diamond-shaped bowl that perfectly expresses the true character of Prosecco. It will be used at all official tastings of Prosecco and will be distributed worldwide as part of the Vinum Extreme Range.
