Tagus Creek to expand into international market

Published:  22 December, 2011

Portuguese wine brand Tagus Creek is set for further international expansion, on the back of its 50% volume growth.

Created in 2004 by the Falua Wine Group, specifically to encourage adventurous wine consumers in the UK to explore the Portuguese wine category, it is now set to export to Australia, Japan, Denmark and additional Asian markets.

Falua's winemaker Antonina Barbosa worked with winemaking consultant Sam Harrop MW to create a range of modern fruit forward wines, combining indigenous and recognisable international varieties, which aim to punched above their weight in terms of quality.

The wines are made using the best winemaking technology, but with a respect for tradition and minimum intervention.

João Portugal Ramos, owner of the Falua Wine Group, said: "In the last year alone we've experienced volume growth of almost 50% - and are now exploring a range of international opportunities."

It claims its clear branding and pioneering marketing such as Braille and Quick Response codes on their labels, as well as quality and value , has sparked its international interest.
