Published:  01 July, 2011

Symington Family Estates has launched a €2 million project to renovate its Graham's Lodge that includes a new restaurant.

The restaurant will overlook the river Douro and the historic city of Oporto and have a menu designed to match the company's Ports and Douro DOC wines.

It will also include improvements to the visitor's experience, additional tasting facilities and a new wine shop.

This historic building in Vila Nova de Gaia, was originally built for Graham's Port in 1890 and now receives over 60,000 visitors annually.

Paul Symington, chairman and joint-managing director says" "At a time of considerable economic uncertainty in Portugal and across Europe, this is proof of my family's continued confidence in the future of Port and Douro wines, the Graham's lodge has long been famous for the quality of its visits and this new project will substantially improve what was already one of the best tourist destinations in Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia."

The Graham's lodge will continue to fulfil its original purpose of aging Graham's finest Ports.

The project  will be completed in 2012.
