California's Inglenook Winery has appointed New Generation Wines as its exclusive UK importer.

The film director and winery owner Francis Ford Coppola acquired the Inglenook trademark in April and changed the name of his Rubicon Estate in Rutherford, Napa Valley back to its original name, Inglenook. From this summer Chateau Margaux winemaker Philippe Bascaules will take up the role of estate manager and winemaker.

To launch the partnership with New Generation, Ford Coppola will visit the UK to present his wines over the summer.

James Booth, managing director of New Generation, said: "The commitment to creating one of the great wines of the world is inspiring."

The following wines will be available to the UK trade from July 1 2011:
Inglenook Blancaneaux, Rutherford, Napa Valley, 2009 (Blend: Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne)
Inglenook Edizione Pennino Zinfandel, Rutherford, Napa Valley, 2008
Inglenook CASK Cabernet, Rutherford, Napa Valley, 2007
Inglenook Rubicon, Rutherford, Napa Valley, 2007 (Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot)

Inglenook Vineyards was founded in 1879 by Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain who imported European grapevines to Napa. Over the following decades under the guidance of John Daniel, Inglenook built a srtong reputation, but by 1975, when Coppola first purchased part of the property, the Inglenook Estate had long since been broken up and its name sold off.
