Hatch Mansfield is believed to be the first wine agency in the business to achieve British Standard Institute BSI, environmental certification.
The BSI will formally present the certificate ISO 14001:2004 to managing director, Patrick McGrath on May 17 at the London International Wine Fair (stand P45) at 11.30am.
It is awarded for the successful implementation of an environmental management system, which includes objectives ranging from lightweight bottles, packaging, transportation, working practices and communication.
Patrick McGrath, managing director, Hatch Mansfield said: "At Hatch Mansfield we work closely with suppliers, customers and third parties who have very high standards in terms of environmental credentials.
"We felt it right, that as a UK agent, we needed to be an equally strong link in the chain ensuring that our operations are as environmentally sensitive and sustainable as possible.
"We have put in place robust measures to keep pushing the bar higher, and are proud to lead the field in this vital area".
ISO 14001 is the international industry standard for managing a company's relationship and interaction with the environment.
Based on a cycle of continuous improvement, processes within the Hatch Mansfield management system are designed to set and monitor environmental targets, ensure legal environmental compliance and prevent pollution.
