Alain Brumont launches 2009 En Primeur campaign

Published:  06 July, 2010

Tannat and Madiran producer Alain Brumont has launched his first En Primeur campaign for the 2009 vintage top red Cuvées from Châteaux Bouscassé and Montus.

Brumont hailed the 2009 vintage as "one of the very best in South West France for 30 years". Rain and snow in the winter of 2008/09 were followed by ideal weather conditions in the spring, he reported. Late August and September were warm and dry and cooler dry weather followed in October, enabling the Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes to be harvested in early November.

"The vintage is so fine and we expect demand to be so high that we have launched an En Primeur campaign for our top wines," Brumont said. "Our 2009 vintage reds are rich and complex with ripe, rounded tannins and balanced acidity that brings freshness to the wines."

The campaign consists of two wines from Château Bouscassé - the Madiran and the Madiran Vieilles Vignes - and three wines from Château Montus - the Madiran, La Tyre and the Montus Prestige.

The top red Cuvées from 2009 from Châteaux Bouscassé and Montus will be on show at Thorman Hunt's autumn tasting in London on September 22.
