The UK's first dedicated Champagne shop, The Toast of Brighton & Hove, has closed after three years in business.
Founded in 2007 the shop, located in Hove, aimed to provide prestigious products and expert advice for customers.
Business partners and owners Dawn Everett and Ann-Marie Shine-Newton enjoyed recent success as finalists in the Drinks Retailing Awards 2009.
Speaking in 2008 of the tough economic times Everett believed a market remained for premium brands. "If people generally drink a Champagne at £40-£45 we don't see them trading down, but those who drink Champagne at £30 to £35 will be interested in trying alternatives at £26 or £27," she said.
