Justin Howard-Sneyd MW, head of wines at Waitrose, is to join industry rival Direct Wines as its global wine director.
Justin Howard-Sneyd MW, head of wines at Waitrose is to join industry rival Direct Wines as its global wine director.
He will take up the appointment from the end of February and be responsible for Direct Wines' extensive portfolio across international businesses, including its largest brand Laithwaites Wine.
Direct Wines chief executive, Simon McMurtrie, said: "I am delighted that Justin is joining our global executive team. He brings with him many great qualities, not least his outstanding knowledge of and vision for the world of wine. His appointment will strengthen and build on the success of the existing team."
Direct Wines, the firm behind The Sunday Times Wine Club, ships more than 40 million bottles per year and has operations the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Switzerland and Germany, as well as the UK.
Howard-Sneyd replaces Dan Snook, who is becoming managing director for a Bordeaux negociant.
