Jim Beam Brands, part of Fortune Brands, has sold its JBB (Greater Europe) business to a management buyout team, in a deal worth 208 million. The deal sees much of the JBB portfolio moving to a new company, Kyndal, formed by nine ex-JBB senior managers, with backing from German bank West LB. Employing 760 people, Kyndal has taken on assets including the Whyte & Mackay, Dalmore, Isle of Jura, Vladivar, Veba and Glayva brands; malt distilleries at Dalmore, Isle of Jura, Fettercairn, Tamnavulin and Tullibardine; the Invergordon grain distillery; and bottling and packaging facilities at Grangemouth and Leith. It will also continue to produce and bottle the After Shock liqueur, and sell Canadian bulk whisky for Jim Beam Brands in all markets outside the US. Jim Beam Brands will continue to market and sell brands such as Jim Beam and Knob Creek Bourbon, After Shock and the Geyser Peak wines from new headquarters in Glasgow.
