Riedel issues statement to the press

Published:  23 July, 2008

Stemware maker, Riedel issues statement regarding claims made by Zwiesel Kristallglass about its crystal glass.

Pursuant to a demand made upon Zwiesel Kristallglas AG by The Riedel Tiroler Glashtte GmbH, F.X.

Nachtmann Bleikristallwerke GmbH, and Kristallglasfabrik Spiegelau GmbH companies, Zwiesel

Kristallglas AG agreed in writing on June 9, 2006 to stop claiming that the drinking glasses they are

producing are:

1. the hardest crystal glass in the world and/or

2. the most dishwasher-safe crystal glass in the world and/or

3. the most shatter-proof glass in the world and/or

4. crystal glass that is more shatter-proof, harder and more dish-washing machine proof than any

other glass in the world.

Justification for the demand made upon Zwiesel Kristallglas AG by The Riedel-Nachtmann-Spiegelau group of companies is found in the tests and analyses conducted by scientific institutes which have disproved any such claims made by Zwiesel Kristallglas AG in connection with their 'Tritan Glass'.

Henceforward, Zwiesel Kristallglas AG have agreed, that they will refrain from claiming that their drinking glasses are made of the hardest, most dishwashing machine-proof and most shatter-proof crystal glass in the world, or that the crystal glasses of Zwiesel Kristallglas AG are more shatter-proof,

harder and more dish-washing machine proof than any other glass in the world.

This obligation on Zwiesel Kristallglas AG is unlimited and affects all advertising campaigns whether in

print media,on the internet, radio or TV, as well as in catalogues, brochures, etc.

The Riede -Nachtmann-Spiegelau group of companies appreciates this formal obligation put upon Zwiesel Kristallglas AG regarding the supposed characteristics of their 'Tritan-Glasses'.

Furthermore, this statement protects the consumer by calling for clarification of this false and misleading publicity.
