Ardbeg - the Islay malt whisky owned by LVMH - is launching a new cask bottling from 1965, which will be priced at more than 2,000 a bottle.
Just 265 bottles have been produced, with 100 set aside for the UK. Despite the price tag, almost all the bottles are reported to be already reserved.
Presented in its own glass, museum-style case with no label, just a wax capsule and seal, each bottle of Ardbeg 1965 comes with a pair white gloves so that it can be handled with the utmost care and attention', and the glass used to make the hand-blown bottle contains a sprinkling of Islay sand. A 5cl miniature in its own case is also included with the purchase so a wee dram can be enjoyed without having to open the bottle immediately.
Bottled at 41.3% abv, Ardbeg 1965 will be available from Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols from mid-July.
