One quarter of restaurant-goers in the UK are so intimidated by wine lists that they always stick to the house white or red, a new survey has revealed.
The poll, commissioned by Australian producer McWilliams, also shows that 70% have no idea what the term appellation' means - one in five believe that apples had something to do with the production process. And only half know what oaked' refers to on a wine label - some think that it means acorns are among the ingredients.
