Hallgarten & Novum Wines has signed a deal as the exclusive UK distributor of Frescobaldi’s first Chianti Classico estate.
As part of the deal, Hallgarten will initially distribute Frescobaldi’s Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva from the Tenuta Perano estate to independents and the on-trade, with a third wine - a Gran Selezione, poised to be released next spring.
Having managed Tenuta Perano’s operations since early 2014, Frescobaldi knew what “amazing potential the vineyards hold”, said president Lamberto Frescobaldi.
“This seventh Frescobaldi estate is one of our most significant acquisitions to date, as we look to embrace the heart of Tuscany and the heart of Chianti Classico,” he said.
Hallgarten & Novum Wines portfolio director, Jim Wilson, said: “Frescobaldi has been a significant partner of ours for a number of years and we are confident these wines will continue to showcase the incredible winemaking abilities the producer has become renowned for.”
The Frescobaldi family purchased the estate in the Gaiole commune of Chianti Classico in 2017 after it had managed the vineyards for three years. It covers 250 hectares, of which 52 are planted with vines, which surround the dedicated winery. The vineyard is planted on steep slopes increasing to an altitude of 500 metres.
